GREEN fingered volunteers in Cheshire are being sought by a national environmental volunteer charity.

BTCV’s Cheshire midweek volunteering teams work across the county to carry out a range of practical conservation tasks on nature reserves, allotments, school grounds, community gardens and green spaces.

The charity's regular work includes tree felling and planting, woodland management, fencing, footpath construction and pond management.

But more work projects are needed, as well as local volunteers to give their time and help to get community projects in the area off the ground.

BTCV Cheshire holds regular midweek volunteer groups based in Chester, Ellesmere Port, Crewe, Northwich, Winsford, Halton and Warrington. Their general aim is to enable people to make a difference in their lives and improve the places around them.

Chester-based Pete Attwood, BTCV Cheshire projects manager, said help is needed from volunteers of all ages, ability and backgrounds with a passion for improving the environment of their local area.

“Clients get the satisfaction that they have invested in the local community through volunteer opportunities that create a better environment, environmentally active citizens, improved health and wellbeing plus employment and skills for the future,” he added.
