Friendly rivalry between English and Welsh pupils at The Queen’s School helped to raise more than £500 for a specialist residential centre catering for children and young adults with additional needs.

Girls were invited to dress in the team kit of their choice for the England v Wales Euro 2016 match on Thursday, June 16, and make a donation toward The Wingate Centre in Nantwich.

The school was fairly evenly split in who they supported and passions ran high throughout the game, with excellent sportsmanship shown as the final whistle blew on an England victory.

The Wingate Centre in Nantwich has a focus on sport as a therapy and for more than 25 years has been offering children and young adults with physical and learning disabilities, as well as those who are disadvantaged, the chance of a holiday away from the limitations of home in a unique and safe environment.
