Two people have been arrested following a robbery at a convenience store in Ellesmere Port yesterday (August 27).

A 28-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, both from the Ellesmere Port area, have been arrested on suspicion of carrying out the armed raid of Loxdales Local on Loxdale Drive and remain in police custody.

Police received reports of a man entering the shop with what is believed to have been a handgun and threatening staff at 7.25am.

He stole a quantity of cash before fleeing the scene.

A 33-year-old man, also from the Ellesmere Port area, has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police continue to urge anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have seen anyone acting suspiciously to call 101, quoting incident number 119 of August 27 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
