Safe trick-or-treating is on offer in a shopping centre.

With the nights rapidly drawing in as Halloween approaches and a distinct chill in the air, people can take their little ones trick-or-treating in safe and warm surroundings in the Port Arcades Shopping Centre.

Two days of free events have been organised running between 10.30am and 3pm with some retailers offering special discounts and promotions.

Saturday will see the Port Arcades ‘safe trick-or-treating day’ when children in fancy dress can trick or treat the shops.

The centre has lined up spooky entertainers in the form of a two-headed monster, a friendly pumpkin and a stilt walking skeleton.

As a special treat, it is also hosting a free pumpkin carving workshop for children to design their own pumpkin ready for Halloween.

There will also be free face painting sessions and fancy dress competitions at intervals throughout the day.

As Halloween falls during the Cheshire West and Chester half-term holidays there will be an additional day of fun on Monday.

With wand making workshops, an owl display and a visit from a Dumbledore look alike, the centre’s ‘All Hallows Wizardry’ day is said to be a must for all Harry Potter fans with fancy dress competitions held at intervals throughout the day.
