An Ellesmere Port pub has been refurbished, refreshed and reopened.

The newly transformed Rake on Rake Lane in Little Stanney is back in business following a makeover with a new look for customers to enjoy.

The Hungry Horse pub, occupying a grade II listed building dating back to the 17th century, was closed for just over two weeks while a number of improvements were made with manager Gary Skinner and his team ready to show off the results.

As well as new paintwork, wallpaper and carpets throughout, two new feature walls have been created with a focus on Ellesmere Port and the nearby Blue Planet Aquarium which add to the pub’s contemporary feel.

There have also been changes to both the bar and restaurant areas with restaurant space being improved to create more room for larger bookings.

Gary said: “The pub was in need of a bit of a refresh and the refurbishment has done just the job.

“It looks brighter and fresher and the changes that have been made will make a real difference. We are excited for our customers, both old and new, to come and see the new-look pub.”

Following the reopening there was a busy weekend of entertainment for everyone to enjoy.

Live music was on offer from a rat pack tribute group followed by karaoke with a meet the Minions event, more live music and children being able to enjoy breakfast with Santa.

Formerly Rake Hall, the pub has a play barn for the youngsters and an outside play area with a duck pond.

There is a large beer garden and for sports fans there are several TV screens with Sky Sports and BT Sport.
