Olympic gold medallist Duncan Goodhew inspired pupils at an Ellesmere Port primary school to get more involved in sports.

The swimming champion visited Parklands Community Primary School to talk to pupils about his experiences and showed them his Olympic gold medal, which he won for the 100m breaststroke at the 1980 Olympic Games.  He also met pupils from Brookside and Childer Thornton primaries.

An ambassador for Premier Sport, the UK’s leading provider of physical education and sports coaching services to schools, Goodhew said his mission is to inspire young people through PE and sport.

“It is not just about talent in a specific sport – we want to encourage as many people as possible to get involved in a range of different activities,” he said.
