Murder inquiry police officers investigating the disappearance of Ellia Arathoon of Ellesmere Port have closed off one lane of the M53 this morning (Friday, November 4).

Lane one of two has been closed on the M53 northbound between junction 10 at Little Stanney and junction 9 at Ellesmere Port.

Traffic is queuing heading away from Chester towards Ellesmere Port and police are warning drivers the lane is likely to be closed for most of the morning.

Yesterday afternoon, police revealed officers had discovered what are believed to be human remains close to the M53.

Later this morning, Craig Andrew Proctor, 39, of Shephard Close, Ellesmere Port, is due to appear before Chester Magistrates Court charged with murder in relation to the disappearance of 29-year-old Ellia Arathoon who is from the town centre and has not been seen since last Friday (October 28).

She was last spotted in the Cromwell Road and Shephard Close areas of Ellesmere Port.
