It was a wet start to the day, with periods of heavy rain battering the region.

The sky may have brightened and the sun made an appearance now, but flooding could be on the cards in Ellesmere Port.

The town has been included as an area at risk in an Environment Agency flood alert – which means flooding is possible – for the Mersey Estuary.
