A family have paid tribute to a loved one who has died of his injuries following a collision with a wall in a town centre car park.

Pensioner Kenneth Price, 74, had to be cut out of his Vauxhall car by firefighters in an unusual collision on a service road adjacent to Civic Way, just in front of Ellesmere Port Fire Station.

A female passenger and a child managed to get out of the vehicle following the incident at 10.40am on Saturday October 11. But the driver, from Ellesmere Port, was taken to hospital by ambulance for what were initially believed to be non-life threatening injuries. However, it later emerged Mr Price had suffered internal injuries and was in a critical condition at Aintree University Hospital in Liverpool where he sadly passed away on Tuesday.

In a statement, Mr Price’s family said: “As a family it is with an extremely heavy heart that after a prolonged period in hospital, Ken passed away on Tuesday 21st October. At this time the family remains in shock and are requesting that we are allowed to grieve and come to terms with our loss.

“We wish to take this opportunity to state that Ken was the most loving and kind husband, father and grandfather and his loss will be felt be all family members. In due course we will announce details of his funeral and wish to state that if anyone witnessed the collision on Civic Way, Ellesmere Port, on Saturday 11th October 2014 at 10.40 hours to please contact Cheshire Police with what you witnessed.”

Anyone with any information relating to the collision is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 300, of 11/10/2014.
