Students had a taste of life in the Royal Marines.

Public services students from West Cheshire College attended a leadership programme organised by the elite fighting force.

The intensive one-day session was arranged at the college’s Ellesmere Port campus and gave the students an insight into life as an amphibious commando.

As part of the day, students were taken through their paces with various Marines-style exercises.

They also had the opportunity to discuss the training and were also shown a presentation.

A fantastic experience

Kate Knight, 16, said so far she was really enjoying the hands-on public services course.

She commented: “Even though I am only in my first year of college when I finish I would like to carry on my education and go on to become a police officer.

“I am pushed every day to achieve my full potential which means I really believe in myself.”

Gareth Edwards, course tutor of public services, said: “The leadership programme led by the Royal Marines was a fantastic experience for our students.

“It was great to see all of the students get stuck in and be really pushed to achieve their best.”
