Free healthy cookery sessions are on offer in Ellesmere Port.

People are being helped to put healthy eating back on the menu with tips from the Healthy Living Centre at the Civic Hall, Civic Way.

The courses are being run through April and May by qualified community food workers Anna Simpson and Galina Nasteva from Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP).

Upcoming sessions will take place on Mondays, April 28 (how to make chilli and coriander flatbread), May 12 (cheese, ham and tomato omelette) and May 19 (red lentil soup.)

The sessions run from 10am to 11am.

Anna said: “These days, ’modern life’ can mean we’re not moving about as much, or eating as well as we used to, meaning our weight can creep up on us.

“Being overweight isn’t just about the way we look. It can lead to more aches and pains, problems sleeping and people report a loss of energy and confidence.

“It also increases our chances of getting heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some cancers.

“The healthy cooking skills sessions are designed to put the fun back into healthy eating, showing how easy it can be.

“The sessions have been really popular so far, particularly the tasting part of the sessions and we’d like more people to come down and try it for themselves.”
