After the drama of the parliamentary elections last night, results are due to start coming in any moment for all 75 positions on Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The 75 elected members represent 46 wards that make up the area. There are currently 42 Conservative councillors, 32 Labour councillors, and one Liberal Democrat councillor.

The leader of the council is currently Tattenhall Conservative Cllr Mike Jones while the Labour leader of the opposition is Cllr Samantha Dixon who represents Chester City ward.

The sole Liberal Democrat currently on the authoruity is Hoole Cllr Bob Thompson who decided to stand down from the council so he could represent the Lib Dems at the parliamentary election

The big question ahead of the first result to be declared is whether what happened in the parliamentary election will be reflected at all in the borough council outcome.

The Chronicle team of David Holmes, Carmella De Lucia, Frances Barrett and David Norbury are all at the Northgate Arena in Chester where the parliamentary ballot boxes have been removed and replaced with the votes which were cast at the same during yesterday’s elections.
