AN eight-year-old boy died from a suspected asthma attack during a children’s birthday party at a city centre activity spot.

The boy, who has not yet been named but is believed to be from Wrexham, collapsed after suffering breathing difficulties at Chester Quasar in Volunteer Street, just after 11.15am on Sunday (June 4).

Members of staff called an ambulance but the boy was later pronounced dead at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Chester Quasar was closed for the rest of the day as a mark of respect.

A shaken employee, who was at the scene, said: “We are trying to deal with this incident and are working with the police to try and establish what happened.”

Cheshire Police is currently investigating the circumstances of the incident and the coroner has been informed.
