A celebrated pianist went along to a Chester retirement lodge to provide a musical afternoon treat.

Andrew Wilde visited Churchill Retirement Living’s Eaton Lodge on Hoole Road to perform a two hour concert of classical music, including pieces by Beethoven and Chopin. He was invited to the lodge by owner and friend Marian Downward, who wanted to put together an event for fellow owners to enjoy.

Mr Wilde, who studied at Chatham’s School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music, has performed with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

He said: “I was delighted that Marian asked me to join her at the lodge and it was a pleasure to perform for the owners. They have a great appreciation for classical music and were a very enjoyable audience to play for.”

Marian added: “It was wonderful having Andrew perform a private concert for all of the owners here at Eaton Lodge. I was introduced to Andrew through my close friend Joyce Plumpton, who is also a pianist, and I thought it would be a great idea to have him perform his music here. He had his own piano delivered to the Lodge and it was a real treat for everyone - we hope to have Andrew visit again!”
