A CHESTER mum has received soap star backing in her long-running campaign for Hillsborough justice.

Anne Williams, 59, of Newtown, lost her 15-year-old son Kevin in the stadium tragedy in which 96 Liverpool fans lost their lives.

Ms Williams has been fighting for a new inquest since the original hearing controversially ruled all victims were dead or brain-dead by 3.15pm, despite Ms Williams having evidence to suggest Kevin was alive until 4pm that day.

Now actor Adam Woodyatt, who plays Ian Beale on long-running soap Eastenders, has donated an Albert Square sign to Ms Williams to help fund legal fees required for a new submission to the Attorney General for a new inquest.

The actor and Liverpool fan sent a reply to Ms Williams on Twitter after she set up a Facebook page calling for help with legal fees as part of the charity for Justice.

He asked: “Would you like a signed Albert Square sign to auction off for funds?”

Later, he added: “(Here is an) Albert Square sign for Anne Williams. Hope it helps with your fundraising. It’s even got Anita Dobson on it!”

The sign also includes signatures from Shane Richie, June Brown and Jo Joyner.

Ms Williams explained the background to the For Justice charity.

She said: “I am indebted to the pathologists and forensic experts who waived their fees while I have been gathering all this evidence.

“There are a number of trustees and volunteers on the Facebook page keeping the charity afloat through car boot sales and other fundraisers.

“I am so pleased with what people have done on that site, I am overwhelmed.”

Ms Williams added she was now in the process of preparing legal documents for the submission to the Attorney General.

“I have started the legal bill, where you have got to have a barrister to do the draft.

“I have got Pete Weatherby QC, who represented Michael Shields in his case.

“Because I have got so much evidence, even before the Hillsborough Panel releases its findings, the draft is being prepared now.”
