Duddon School pupils enjoy a pressing time with their apples

Youngsters hand-pick apples from the school orchard for fun activity

As Apple launched the iPhone 7, pupils from Duddon St Peter’s Primary School were busy getting their own apples in the press.

Head of Treetops Foundation Stage Unit Claire Knight went back to basics, hiring the Transition Chester Apple Press for the day.

She said: “It’s great to see so many parent volunteers helping the children put the schools apples to good use. In times where technology is key, it’s fabulous for the children to be part of such an organic activity.”

The pupils hand picked the apples from the school’s orchard.

Parents and pupils then chopped and pressed the apples before bottling up a sample of the delicious freshly squeezed juice to take home.

Parent volunteers ran the press for the entire day putting hundreds of the schools apples to good use.
