AN IDENTICAL twin and a post office worker were killed in a head-on crash.

Former Kingsway High School pupil Jamie Davidson, 19, of Elton, died when his grey MG ZR sports car was involved in a collision with a blue Peugeot 306 driven by Lynda Williams, 45, from Frodsham, who was also killed.

The accident happened on the A56 Chester Road, Helsby, close to Helsby High School, about 10.25pm on Friday.

Jamie, of Dove Close, Elton, is survived by his identical twin Scott. The brothers featured in The Chester Chronicle in 2006 after enlisting with the Cheshire Regiment, now 1st Battalion (Cheshires) The Mercian Regiment.

Lynda lived with her partner Dave and daughter Jenny, 19, in St Hilda’s Drive, Frodsham, and worked at the Spar and post office in the same street. Her eldest daughter Georgina married in September.

The accident happened after Lynda had dropped off Christmas cards at The Robin Hood pub in Helsby where she used to work as a barmaid.

Landlady Mary McMahon said: “It’s hard to accept. She was a lovely person, very honest, very outspoken, a bubbly character and very generous – generous to a fault – such a great person. She still sees everyone in here. It’s very sad. This has shocked the whole community.”

Colleague David Holland, from the post office, said: “We are devastated and shocked. She was part of the family. Absolutely everybody is asking about her. She was well liked.

“She was outgoing, jolly, she was a nice person who got on with everybody. She was a dedicated mother, a hard-working, genuine lady.”

The drivers were cut free by Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service and taken to the Countess of Chester hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

Witnesses are asked to call Sergeant Rachel Gallagher on 01244 613163.
