AN AMATEUR dramatic group will be entertaining the crowds at a popular carnival.

Broughton Amateur Dramatic Group (BADG) – which celebrates its 40th anniversary next year – will appear at the Broughton and Bretton Carnival on June 1.

During the event, which is sponsored by Broughton Shopping Park, BADG will showcase its most recent production and use the opportunity to recruit new members.

Carnival committee member Laura Virgo said: “The group has made such a positive contribution to the life of the local community over the past 40 years, that we have invited them, as guests of honour, to open the carnival.”

And this year’s event is set to be even bigger and better.

There will be a parade featuring carnival queen 10-year-old Maisie Turner, supported by this year’s rosebud, four-year-old Jessica Morley and a retinue of Broughton Primary School pupils: Tiegan Boyd, Kelsey Greatbanks, Alisha Adamson, Carmen Siddal Zapata, Ruby Salisbury and Lizzy Mills.

Broughton and Bretton Carnival takes place on June 1 at the Brookes Avenue playing field in Broughton.
