A TERRIFIED Crewe teenager was subjected to two serious sexual assaults as she made her way home after a night out with friends.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been dropped off close to Moreton Road, Crewe, and was walking the short distance home when the attacker struck in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 17-year-old was approached by a young man who grabbed her before subjecting her to two separate sexual assaults before she was found wandering the street, shoeless, and in distress.

The attacker is described as white, of medium build and wearing a hooded top, first assaulted the girl at the junction of Readesdale Avenue and Dairy House Way, sometime after 1.30am on Sunday.

She was then taken to the remote Woodside Lane, close to the Woodside pub, where she was subjected to a second assault by the same attacker, who police say appeared to be unarmed.

On Sunday, as police forensics teams and officers from Crewe's Specialist Investigations Unit scoured the two crime scenes, an appeal was made for several witnesses who may have information.

A police spokeswoman said the distressed girl recalled seeing two people walking near to Woodside Avenue and Woodside Lane at about 2.30am, and who may have seen the offender.

The spokeswoman added: 'Detectives would also like to speak to a man on Moreton Road who spoke to the victim in the early hours shortly after the offences, between 2.45am and 3.15am.

'It's believed the victim was wearing no shoes at that time and a man commented on this to her.

'Anyone with information should contact Detective Sergeant Paul Done of the Crewe Specialist Investigations Unit on 01244 613331.'

While the investigation continued, police issued a general appeal to young women making their way home after nights out this summer.

The spokeswoman added: 'Please make sure somebody knows where you are at all times, if you are out with friends, look after them, and always inform Cheshire Police of any suspicious activity.'

Anyone who wished to give information anonymously can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
