DOUBLE gold medal winning Olympic rower Tom James MBE spent last Friday night in Christleton to help raise funds for a charity, of which he is patron.

The hog roast at Christleton Cricket Club was held to raise money for Oswestry charity The Movement Centre.

The centre uses a unique evidence-based therapy that helps children with problems caused by severe cerebral palsy.

More than 100 guests enjoyed the event and the former King’s School pupil was happy to let guests hold the gold medals he won, as part of a coxless four, at the London 2012 Olympics and the Beijing Olympics four years ago.

The event raised £1,000 for The Movement Centre, which aims to support patients even when NHS funding is not available.
