CHILDREN and staff at a village nursery are celebrating a double triumph.

Ashton House Nursery in Ashton Hayes has been judged as ‘outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted inspectors.

And the Church Road facility, which cares for children from six weeks old to 11 years, has also been named a top five finalist for a Nursery Team of the Year award.

Nursery manager Mandy Jourdan said: “We are very proud of this achievement, which represents the continuing hard work and dedication from our staff team to continually improve and provide the best possible childcare for our children.”

By achieving the highest Ofsted grading possible, Ashton House Nursery is judged to be of ‘exceptionally high quality’.

The report said: “Staff are highly motivated and management consistently aspire to maintain high quality care and education for children.

“Children make significant gains in their learning and development and achievement is excellent in relation to individual starting points.”

The nursery also made the top five in the Nursery Team of the Year category at the Nursery Management Today awards.

The staff travelled down to London for the annual awards evening and although they didn’t win were recognised for their ‘exceptional, long-standing and highly qualified staff team who create a special atmosphere in which children are happy and grow in confidence’.
