MODERN jive dancers Steve Ledsham and Claire Morris are hoping things come in threes.

They are one step closer to achieving their dancing dream after winning the seniors title at the UK Open Modern Jive Championships at the Tower Ballroom in Blackpool for the second time.

Now they have their sights set on doing it again next year – and becoming the first couple to win the title three years on the run.

“We have been told that no-one has won it three times in a row so it would be a dream come true for us,” said Steve, the franchise holder of the Blitz modern jive group based in Chester’s Guildhall in Watergate Street. “It would be a fantastic achievement for us.”

This is the fourth national title won by the dance partners in the last year.

They are current champions in the over-45s category in both the West Midlands Ceroc national championships and the Scottish Ceroc national championships.

Now they have their sights firmly set on winning the seniors title at the Welsh national championships in September.

Steve and Claire are coached by Steve’s partner, Paula Chalinor, a Blitz dance coach, who was asked to judge at the Blackpool event for the first time this year.

“We are now training for 10 to 12 hours a week but it is worth it when you consider what Claire and I have achieved,” said Steve. “I am really proud of what we have done so far and we now have the Welsh title in our sights. It would be amazing if we could bring it home to Chester.”
