EDUCATIONAL establishments providing excellent service across the county have been praised by government inspectors.

Dorin Park Special School in Upton, Bishop Heber High School in Malpas, School House Nursery in Delamere, St Nicholas RC High School in Northwich, Adoption Matters Northwest, D H Associates in Neston and Treetops at Hopscotch Day Nursery in Parkgate Road in Chester are just some of the providers in Cheshire West and Chester which achieved an outstanding Ofsted report in the academic year 2010-2011.

All are listed in Her Majesty’s Chief Inspectors Annual Report for 2010/2011 which was published yesterday.

Bishop Heber’s exceptional English exam results in 2010 were highlighted as a particular example of excellence.

Students at the school achieved almost three times the national average number of grades A* and A in the subject.

Year 7 and 8 pupils in the English department recently raised £1,220 for charity through a sponsored reading event.

Headteacher of Dorin Park, Annie Hinchliffe said: “Dorin Park staff, pupils and governors are delighted and extremely proud of the outstanding judgement this year.”

The special school recently launched its own radio station and staff and pupils are working on creating a community wildlife garden, which should be ready next spring.

The University of Chester’s faculty of education and children’s services was also classed as outstanding for its initial teacher training.

Dr John Stephens, Cheshire West and Chester’s deputy director of children’s and young people’s services, said: ‘This year we have seen a significant improvement in the Ofsted judgements on our schools and childcare provision. The proportion of good and outstanding schools is increasing all the time. This is down to the great work of everyone involved.”
