THE popular headteacher of Dodleston C of E Primary School is to bid farewell to pupils and staff at the end of this term after 19 years.

Hilary Bushnell joined the school in 1994. As part of the celebrations to mark her retirement, she will be officially opening this year’s Dodleston Village Fete on Saturday.

Mrs Bushnell said: “It has been a pleasure and a privilege to have been able to play a part in the lives of so many children. It has been special to watch them grow up, move on, succeed and some to have children of their own.

“The school has seen many changes over the years but has remained steadfast as a happy village school. I am proud of the things the school has done.

“I would like to say a very big thank you to all the past and present pupils, staff, governors and parents and grandparents, as well as people and friends in the village who have helped make the last 19 years such a rich and exciting time for me.”

THE Dodleston Village Fete will be held at the village green, next to St Mary’s C of E Church, on Saturday, at 1pm. There will be fancy dress, stalls, a hog roast, sideshows and family-friendly activities.
