A collision is causing delays on the M6 northbound this afternoon (August 19).
One lane is closed at junction 16 near Crewe while emergency services attend.
Highways England say the incident is expected to clear between 3.30pm and 4pm, and normal traffic conditions should resume between 4.30pm and 4.45pm.
Motorists using the M6 to travel towards Chester will be affected.
Those using the M56 heading away from Chester are facing similar delays due to heavier than normal traffic.
