DISABLED ultra-distance athlete Chris Moon MBE received a warm welcome from Post Office staff in Chester when he took a short break from his 1,000 mile charity run around the UK.

To mark the first month-long Barnardo’s Believe in Children Month Appeal Chris is undertaking the ultimate challenge by running an average of 36 miles a day for 30 days – a distance of more than 1,000 miles.

Chris started the Post Office 1000 Challenge in Edinburgh on September 1 and will finish in London at the end of the month, calling in at Barnardo’s projects, Post Office branches, Royal Mail and Parcelforce operational sites en route.

Chris made a brief pit-stop at Chester Post Office where he met local post office staff who have been busy raising funds for Barnardo’s, Royal Mail Group’s Charity partner.

Chris said: “I’m really excited to be involved in this fund-raising campaign. Barnardo’s is a very important charity to me because it provides vital help and encouragement for disadvantaged children. I hope that by completing this challenge it will help in some way to provide a brighter future for many more children.”
