CHILDREN from Deepoint Primary School got their skates on and headed to the Victorian Christmas Village on Friday for an ice-skating master class with ITV’s Dancing On Ice judge, Robin Cousins.

Chantal Jones, James Chaloner, Ella Davis and Ryan Newton from the Blacon primary school met with the Olympic star at the open-air ice-rink, and strapped into their stakes, they thoroughly enjoyed their open air lesson in the snow.

The afternoon began with a talk by Robin, telling his story of how he found ice-skating success and fame as well as his tales of winning an Olympic gold medal for his country and behind the scenes of ITV’s Dancing On Ice.

The early November snowfall made the whole experience magical. Nicki Harris, a teaching assistant at Dee Point primary school, said: “This was a fantastic experience for the children, both coming to the Victorian Christmas Village and meeting Robin Cousins.

“The children hung on his every word and picked up some great ice-skating tips that I am sure they will use to show off to their friends when they are next on the ice.”

Chief Executive, Chester Renaissance, Rita Waters, said: “The school children had a fabulous time on the ice and meeting Robin Cousins was the icing on the cake. Robin’s appearance at the Victorian Christmas Village is attracting national attention as visitors come from far and wide to experience a magical Christmas in Chester.”
