Debenhams Chester gears up for what they hope to be their biggest BBC Children in Need fundraising campaign to date.

Since raising £456.98 for the cause last year, Chester’s Debenhams team is undertaking another summer of support for BBC Children in Need.

As the charity announced its highest ever fundraising total, Debenhams is working to ensure 2016 is even bigger and better.

Chester store manager Phil Elliott says: “We have supported BBC Children in Need for six years now, raising over £1,600,000 nationally in that time. I and the team at Debenhams Chester are hugely passionate about supporting good causes and BBC Children in Need is one which always resonates with staff and customers alike.

“Last year, more than £500,000 was raised in Debenhams stores nationally for BBC Children in Need and Chester played a big part in that. That’s why we’re already doing our bit to make it even bigger and better this year by doing lots of fun activities in the store!”

The store is fundraising till the end of August and will also be supporting the charity with a range of limited edition merchandise.

Exclusive BBC Children in Need products will be stocked in the Chester store, with children’s t-shirts, leggings, dresses and onesies all available.

Official merchandise, such as keyrings, Pudsey ears and wristbands, will also be available and all profits will be donated to BBC Children in Need.

BBC Children in Need galvanises the UK to raise money for projects across the UK, including many in Chester, which are working to change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in their communities.

Commercial partnership accounts manager at BBC Children in Need Stefanie Rees said: “We are so hugely grateful to Debenhams for its continuing support. Stores such as Debenhams Chester raise vast and greatly needed donations which are crucial in helping us support over 480,000 disadvantaged children and young people throughout the UK.”

Sitting alongside Help for Heroes and Breast Cancer Now, BBC Children in Need is one of the official partners supported by the Debenhams Foundation in the UK.

The 200 year old department store chose these charities following feedback from its customers and employees.

The Debenhams Foundation is Debenhams’ own charity that was set up in 2012.

Since its launch the Foundation has raised over £5m for good causes.
