A daring pensioner will skydive more than 1,000 ft from one of America’s biggest towers dressed as Elvis, in memory of a schoolboy who died from meningitis.

Joe Hughes was so touched by the strength and courage of his friends Ray and Alyson Doughty of Peel Crescent, Ashton Hayes, after the couple lost their 11-year-old son Adam to the disease in 2003, that he became a dedicated fundraiser for The Meningitis Trust which has provided steadfast support to them over the past decade.

But this July, a week before his 72nd birthday, Joe will take on his biggest challenge of all.
