A PEDESTRIAN was killed in the early hours of Easter Sunday as he walked home along an unlit road.
Jason Baker died at the scene after he was involved in an accident with a Citroën Saxo on the A533 Northwich to Winsford bypass near its junction with Jack Lane in Moulton.
The 30-year-old, from the Glebe Green area of Winsford, who had a young son and daughter with his wife Amanda, had enjoyed a night of entertainment at the Cheshire Spot in Lostock.
A mini Stars in their Eyes had been organised to support the John Blower Trust by John's employer, Ilfords.
Singers from the Saxon's pub in Winsford, where Jason was a regular, supplied the stars for the night.
Landlady Sue Campbell is shocked at his death and her heart goes out to his family.
Sue said: 'He was a very nice chap who would do anything for anybody.
'He came to support us but, unfortunately, decided to walk home.
'He was quiet and kept himself to himself, but everybody knew him.'
She added: 'For somebody to die in such circumstances at a very young age is very sad. We will try and give as much support to his wife as we can.
'It's a sad loss for someone so young with two kids. Our thoughts are with Mandy and his family.'
Mr Baker had decided to leave the event early and said he would take a taxi home from Northwich town centre. It is not clear when he decided to walk to Winsford.
The driver of the car was a male, also from Winsford. He was uninjured in the accident, which happened at 1.05am.
Police at Congleton and Vale Royal division are appealing for witnesses to call Inspector John Ward on 01606 48000.
