The work of local artists came under the spotlight when the secretary of state for culture, media and sport, Sajid Javid, visited Castle Park Arts Centre in Frodsham last week.

Weaver Vale MP Graham Evans gave him a tour of the park, which was gifted to the people of Frodsham and Runcorn by the Wright family in 1933.

Mr Javid said: “I was delighted that Graham showed me around the bustling art centre at Castle Park.

“It’s fantastic to see a centre with such a great community vibe.

“I was particularly interested in the art exhibition. It’s always great to see the work of local artists being showcased.”

The centre, which operates as a self-funding charity, was converted from stables in the 1980s and is now home to three galleries, craft units, workshop rooms and a coffee shop.

Mr Evans added: “For a facility that was gifted to the people in Frodsham and Runcorn more than 80 years ago, it is fantastic how it has grown and is still so popular today.”
