Staff at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Chester have made Easter a little more egg-citing for children at the Countess of Chester hospital.

The team donated 435 chocolate eggs to the children’s ward at the hospital and other local charities following a challenge in the weeks running up to the Easter weekend involving staff, local residents, hotel guests, Club Motivation members and businesses.

General manager Mark Thacker said: “We are absolutely delighted with the final number of eggs collected for the challenge and must say a huge thank you to everybody who showed their support.

“A chocolate egg is a simple gesture but we know from our previous challenge that it really does make a difference and we wanted to play our part in making Easter that little bit more special for those who may not necessarily get to spend it with their families.”

The progress of the Easter Egg challenge was tracked with a pyramid display in the leisure club reception.

Corporate fundraising and events manager at the hospital Lesley Woodhead said: “We must say a huge thank you to the team at Crowne Plaza Chester for such a thoughtful gesture.”

This is the second time the team at Crowne Plaza Chester has set themselves the Easter Egg Challenge, which with its growing success, is set to become an annual tradition.
