Dozens of supporters and beneficiaries of Crewe Rotary Club came together to celebrate their successful partnership.

The fourth annual Rotary Day recognised the achievements of the community voluntary group and the 44 organisations it supported during 2013.

As well as an overview of the club’s work, the audience, which included Cheshire East mayor councillor Dorothy Flude and Crewe mayor councillor Irene Faseyi, heard from representatives of charities that had benefited from its support.

Community chairman Frank Baldwin said:  “Every Christmas our Santa float visits neighbourhoods all over Crewe.

“The float received a much-needed makeover from Whitby Morrison and Reaseheath College with support from Wulvern Housing, and last year we were delighted to have collected over £8,000 – an incredible 6% increase on 2012.

“The money generously donated by members of the public all goes to charities and voluntary organisations in the local community. Rotary Day is held to showcase some of those organisations and learn how they have invested the funding.”
