There was major rush-hour disruption this morning as a two-car crash caused queues on the A55 stretching back for six miles.

A collision on the A494 eastbound carriageway near Queensferry at 7.21am resulted in surrounding routes becoming gridlocked, with motorists facing delays of up to an hour.

The A55 was worst hit with traffic backed up from the A494 all the way towards Pentre Halkyn.

One lane was closed on the A494 with the queue stretching back three miles on that road as a result of the crash which was cleared at around 8.30am.

Nearby Holywell Road in Northop Hall and Northop Road at Flint Mountain were also heavily congested with tailbacks of more than two miles.

Nobody was injured in the collision which involved two BMW’s, North Wales Police confirmed.

Traffic returned to normal on the A494 as soon as the lane reopened, while the A55 congestion cleared by around 9.20am.
