A HOST of festive treats, scrumptious goodies and local wares will be on sale at Tarporley’s first country market.

The idea for the market came about in the village Parish Plan where 92% of respondents said they would like one in the village.

Now it has become a reality and the first market will take place on December 6, from 9.30am-2pm, on Church Lane.

Tarporley resident Karen Lamb volunteered after the parish council asked for someone to organise a market.

Karen, who used to work for North West Fine Foods Ltd, said: “I decided to volunteer because I had worked at many farmers markets before with my job, and understood how they worked.

“I am very grateful to all those who gave up their time to help put the market together.

“All the products at the market are sourced from within a 20 mile radius of Tarporley and we have managed to get many local suppliers.”

She added: “The first market will be very festive, but they will continue on in the new year on the second Saturday of every month.”

A variety of products will be on sale at the market including Cholmondeley fudge, products from Tiresford Guernsey Gold range, Christmas wreaths, Crabtree cheese, Chestnut meats and more. There will also be a hog roast and a coffee stall.
