THREE members of staff at the Countess of Chester Hospital are being joined by their daughters on this year’s 10-mile Moonlight Walk in July.
Lynda Taylor, who works in the fire health and safety department at the hospital, has taken part four times with her daughter Jordan, who at her first walk in 2007 was the youngest participant aged just 12 and her 13-year-old daughter Beth will be joining them this year.
Lynda said: “We love the bacon butties at the end and feel proud to be doing something worthwhile!”
Also walking as part of the same group is Alison Bate who works as a PA in the facilities department with her daughter Candice, 15.
Alison said: “Since the Walk was moved to the slightly earlier time of 10pm it has been perfect.
“It’s a really enjoyable walk and is such a lovely way to spend time with your daughter.”
Another member of staff who has been part of the same group of supporters since 2007 is Sarah Harper-Lea who works in legal services.
She is walking with daughters Gemma, 15, and Alyssa, 14.
Since the walk started 6 years ago, more than £300,000 has been raised for the hospital.
This year all the sponsorship money raised will split between the Hospital’s Breast Care Unit and the Relative Comfort Appeal, providing a day lounge, counselling room and overnight accommodation for relatives of patients who are critically ill within the hospital.
If you would like to join in, call the fundraising office on 01244 366672 or download your application form from www.coch.nhs.uk/moonlightwalk.
Registration is £12 and all participants will receive a t-shirt, medal, personalised sponsorship form with pen, a certificate and lots of refreshments along the way.
