Chester’s Westminster Park has undergone improvement works to its sports courts.

Funded by local councillors Razia Daniels and Neil Sullivan, Glan Aber Tennis Club and Westminster Park Junior Football Club, the improvements include laying new court surfaces and replacing the old perimeter fencing.

The courts are free for public use and open all year round, with many sports clubs using the courts for coaching and training sessions on a weekly basis.

The project has had the support of the Friends of Westminster Park - a group comprising of members of the sports clubs and individual park users, who welcomed the upgrade to the sports facility.

Cllr Neil Sullivan said: “Cllr Daniels and I are delighted to see what a difference the improvement works have made within Westminster Park.

“Improving this valued recreation ground, and maintaining it, is vital to encouraging people to be active and to lead healthier lives. We look forward to seeing an increase in activity.”

Westminster Park has benefitted from more than £1 million of improvement projects in the last ten years and has won a national Green Flag award every year since 2009.
