COMMUNITY groups in Frodsham and Helsby have received more than £15,000 in grants over the past two years.

At a time of extensive cuts, at least £18,200 has been donated to projects in the community, by Cheshire West and Cheshire Councillors, Andrew Dawson, Les Ford and Mark Ingram, from their Community Grants fund.

Since CWaC's creation in 2009 at least 20 community-lead groups have benefited from the grants, including:

Frodsham Leisure Centre gained £1,180 for a public access defibrillator.

And Helsby Hillside Primary School gained £1,000 for new equipment to support their band and choir.
