ALTERATIONS were agreed to create a contemporary entrance to a business centre in a grade two listed building.

The application was put forward at the Steam Mill Business Centre, Steam Mill Street, Boughton by Threadneedle Pensions Ltd.

Planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council were told approval was being sought for a glazed canopy at the main entrance and new glass entrance doors.

The Steam Mill is occupied by a number of businesses, according to a report.

It is close to the Shropshire Union Canal and apartment blocks and is within the Boughton Canalside Conservation Area.

No objections were made by conservation specialists at the council.

The replacement of the timber entrance doors would give the entrance a contemporary appearance, planning officers believed.

The alterations would be in keeping with the character of the Steam Mill and its surroundings.

The application was recommended for approval.
