RESIDENTS are invited to find out more about a housing scheme for older people proposed for the Northgate car park.

A second consultation meeting is taking place on Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm in the ground floor meeting room of the Northgate Arena.

On hand to answer any questions will be the architect and representatives from Cheshire West and Chester Council – who would provide the land – and Arena Housing who would build the housing.

There will be a formal presentation at 6pm.

The meeting is taking place ahead of the submission of a planning application.

The Extra Care Housing is for 131 apartments and communal facilities for the over 55s, with 24-hour on-site care and support.

Funding for the development will be assisted by a £4.3m grant from the Department of Health.

It would be built on the long stay Northgate car park offering housing for rent, to buy and shared ownership.

Building work is planned to start in 2011/12, subject to planning permission and confirmation of grant funding.
