The leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council started a social media spat to congratulate a fellow politician on his new career path.

Conservative councillor Mike Jones took to Twitter to comment on Labour councillor Ben Powell's decision to stand down to take up an alternative career in comedy. 

In response to the Chronicle's article, Cllr Jones tweeted:  "oh, so that is what he has been practicing (sic) for 4 yrs !!!!!!"

Mr Powell retorted with the challenge: "People have been queuing up to ask me to stay and I notice just as many asking you to leave. Do you think we should swap?"
