A CHARITABLE student duo have hit the heights in aid of a good cause.

David Roberts, from Clutton, Chester, and his University of London friend Scott Redington braved terrible weather to successfully tackle the Four Peaks challenge as part of this year’s Sport Relief appeal.

And the pair were able to smash their target of climbing all four peaks in just 36 hours, completing it in just 26 hours, 41 minutes.

David explained how the fundraiser went.

He said: “Overall it went extremely well. The weather was pretty horrible at the top of a few of the peaks with snow, ice, 50 mph winds and hail to walk through.

“We did make a unintentional detour due to a navigational error which changed our previous total distance covered from 25km to 45 km, making our overall time all the more satisfying.

“Unfortunately, due to the mist and weather, we couldn’t see much from the tops of the peaks, but the views of the mountain ranges in between the peaks were astonishing.”
