There ain’t no party like an S Club party – as was proved when three of the original line-up wowed fans at Chester’s Cruise nightclub on Monday.

S Club 7 was reduced to S Club 3 when Jo O’Meara, Tina Barrett and Bradley McIntosh took to the stage to sing their hearts out and pose for photos at the Beans student night where revellers mainly comprised students home for the summer together with the remnants of the regular University of Chester crowd.

Beans promoter Mike Hannigan, who said the club was packed to capacity, commented: “We’ve had some acts in the past but when it came to crowd interaction there wasn’t a single person in the building that wasn’t singing including me and Lenny (Cruise manager)!”

After opening the show with Bring It All Back, the trio performed all their hits including Don’t Stop Moving, S Club (There ain’t no party like an S Club party), Never Had A Dream Come True and Reach For The Stars.

“There was a mixture of the students that are left here from Chester University and what we call the returning students, students from Chester who attend other universities that come out on a Monday night,” added Mike. “Jo’s voice was brilliant. Bradley was great interaction-wise and Tina was just great to pull it altogether.”

“There was a meet and greet and I think there were probably about 200 people who had their picture taken with them. They were great people, very gracious, not full of themselves, just really nice people and they enjoyed the gig.”

Some Cestrians bumped into members of S Club when after arrived in Chester the night before when they frequented pubs including Telford’s Warehouse and the Marlbororough Arms.

Mark Williams, from Hoole, who stood for the Lib Dems in the council elections, tweeted on Sunday evening: “Just seen Jo from sclub7 in @Telfords off into town apparently!”

Celebrity and former glamour model Katie Price is coming to Cruise on Saturday July 4 with VIP meet and greet tickets available. DJ Russke will be performing a DJ Set at Beans in Cruise on Monday July 6. Swedish singer-songwriter Basshunter will be at Beans on July 20 performing his hits.
