Eaton Golf Club captain and lady captain, husband and wife duo Peter and Ros Longson, presented a cheque for £10,128.61 to Helen Carlson from Claire House Hospice, their chosen charity for the year.

Peter and Ros said: “We are very pleased to have raised such a wonderful amount and thank all the members and staff at Eaton Golf Club for giving so generously of their time and efforts to support Claire House.”

There have been a wide variety of fundraising activities from a charity golf day to a sponsored 50k Thames Path Challenge walk completed in September by the lady captain as well as numerous fundraising efforts by members of the club.

Helen Carlson said: “Working at Claire House, you often come across the misconception that we must be a sad place.

“However, our children and young adults silence these thoughts with their smiles, their humour and their outlook towards life.

“Claire House needs a staggering £2.7m every year and the fact is that we can't do it alone.

“The support, dedication and passion both the lady captain and the captain of Eaton Golf Club have shown throughout their term really has set a high benchmark for others to follow.”
