Fact file:

Name: Chloe Augusta Randall

Job: Freelance artist and teacher

Born: Tiverton, Devon

Lives: Newton, Chester

Education: I studied art at Plymouth College of Art and Design, at El Taller Rufino Tamayo in Mexico and art education at Chester College when it was part of the University of Liverpool

Family: I have one daughter who is 13 and half Mexican

I normally get up at 7am and check that everything is sorted for the day. I make sure my daughter is off to school and has eaten breakfast!

I have recently started to freelance, offering adult evening art classes, which I love.

I will soon be leading creative sessions with the Alzheimer’s Society in Flintshire and have decided to follow my dream and start an art school called Art in Chester.

I trained as an art teacher and I have taught at the Hammond School, the University Church of England Academy in Ellesmere Port and Ellesmere College in Shropshire among others.

Arts provision in schools is being taken away or scaled down however, so I have decided to inspire budding artists outside formal education.

In the mornings if I deliver art sessions, I have to be careful what I wear, as I need to look respectable but on the other hand I can`t wear anything too good as I always end up covered in paint!

I normally stop for lunch, which I try to make the evening before using brown rice and beans, as this will keep me going. I use a lot of energy.

If I’m not doing a workshop or lesson I’ll work on my own art work – I am also a member of the Cheshire Artists Network.

I also update my twitter page with anything arty that is going on in the area and put art tutorials on my Facebook page showing the techniques I’ve taught in my lessons, or examples of students work.

I’m normally home about 4pm, when I’ll sit down and go through any emails or calls and have a welcome cup of tea. I prepare the dinner at 5pm. I always sit down to a meal with my daughter in the evening. I came to Chester when she was six months old to study at the university. I decided to bring her up on my own. She is doing really well and is a very talented singer.

Then in the evening I plan and prepare for my evening classes. My students say that they really enjoy my classes and learn a lot. They always impress me with their work. I am starting a series of classes for young people, teaching them new and inspiring art, and how to succeed in art exams. A-level art is very hard!

I like to relax by watching the telly, my favourite shows at the moment are Detectorists and The Last Kingdom.

I use Facebook a lot as it helps me keep in touch with my international friends. I used to live in Northern California and in Mexico.

On Thursday evenings I play the ukulele at Hanky Panky Pancakes with the ukulele group there.

I like to be in bed by 10pm.
