Children from Ellesmere Port primary schools brought light to the town at the annual Christmas lights switch-on.

The youngsters from Brookside , Whitby Heath and Wolverham primaries carried their homemade lanterns in a parade as town mayor Lynn Clare waved her magic wand to turn the Christmas tree lights on at the Civic Square.

The winner of the mayor’s Christmas card competition was Chloe Watson, of Meadow Community Primary School and runner up was Amy Trent from Cambridge Road Community Primary School .

Refreshments were served and there was entertainment from Ellesmere Port 24/7 Radio.
