CHESTIVAL 2010 is hoping to put Chester back on the cultural map this summer and the organisers are urging everyone to get involved.
From mid-June, the city will be dominated by a vibrant festival to kick start the summer, bringing the streets, buildings and parks of Chester alive for 33 days and nights.
And there are plenty of chances to get involved in some of the many activities.
As part of the festival the Chester Mystery Plays are producing a 30- minute version of 2008’s Noah’s Flood, in Chester’s Amphitheatre on the original Pageant Wagon.
If you enjoy singing and are able to commit to rehearsals in May and June or if you performed in 2008 Chester Mystery Plays, Chestival 2010 want to hear from you.
A significant part of the 2010 Chester Summer Music Festival will be The Big Sing on Saturday, July 3.
This will feature local and community choirs from the region and provide them with the opportunity to sing loud and proud in Chester city centre.
If your choir is free on that day and you would like to take part, now is your chance.
There is also a search under way for talented young composers under the age of 25 to enter the NCEM Young Composer Awards.
The winning entries will be performed by the internationally renowned Tallis Scholars in the Summer Music Festival in Chester Cathedral.
The works will open the festival on Wednesday, June 30, and will also be recorded for broadcast by BBC Radio 3.
During Chestival, an outdoor stage will be permanently present outside the Town Hall and the organisers want to give the local community a chance to perform there.
