CHESTER-BASED Tip Top Productions is among the first amateur groups to stage Tim Firth’s Calendar Girls with all the cast set to strip off for their very own calendar.

Rehearsals are in full swing for the show, directed by Simon Phillips, which runs at Chester’s Forum Studio Theatre (formerly the Gateway) from September 10-22.

Calendar Girls is based on the true story of 11 members of the Women’s Institute who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

The play holds the record for the fastest selling play in Britain following the opening of the original production at The Chichester Festival Theatre.

Tip Top Productions will be selling their own calendar during the run, in which the cast and everyone involved from props ladies to the deputy stage manager will each be posing for a particular month.

All proceeds from the sale of the calendar will be donated to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

The play will be sponsored by the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel and Spa in Chester.
