LORD Mayor Jill Houlbrook was thrilled to receive a unique auction prize for the Lord Mayor’s Charity Ball.

It was delivered to the steps of Chester’s historic Town Hall by the flame-covered Rainbow Trike and offers one lucky winner a chauffeur driven tour of the city courtesy of Rainbow Trike Tours.

Each Lord Mayor can take the opportunity to support a charity close to their heart, and Cllr Houlbrook has chosen local children’s charity Adoption Matters Northwest.

Adoption Matters Northwest (AMNW) is a voluntary adoption agency which finds stable, loving homes for children living in care, and supports adoptive parents as they welcome a new child into their family.

Many of these children have had a difficult start to life, suffering the lasting effects of abuse, neglect, domestic violence and substance use, and it has not been safe for them to remain with their birth families.

With 4000 children across the UK still waiting to find their forever families, AMNW is constantly striving to recruit potential new adopters, increase awareness of the issues around adoption and of course raise funds.

The Lord Mayor traditionally hosts a number of fundraising events starting with the prestigious Lord Mayor’s Ball which this year features local talent from Chester and Cheshire West, and takes place in the Town Hall on July 26.

Cllr Houlbrook said: “I am delighted to support AMNW and invite the citizens of Cheshire West and Chester to join me in raising money for this very worthy cause. Everyone is invited to buy tickets for the charity ball and enjoy a night of vintage cabaret style entertainment along with fabulous food and drink.”

The Lord Mayor’s daughter Rachel is Chester’s Lady Mayoress and also works as a fundraiser for AMNW.

Rachel added: “This is a wonderful opportunity for the charity to reach out to our local community.

“I hope that our links with the Lord Mayor’s office will encourage people to consider adopting a child or to support our fundraising.”

Rachel is ensuring that guests will have a huge array of wonderful prizes to choose from and has already welcomed donations from Chester Zoo, Everton Football Club, Bentley Motors, ChoBo, Sykes Holiday Cottages and many more local businesses.

The Lord Mayor added: “I am so pleased to have the support of Rainbow Trike Tours, this fantastic prize will help us raise money for such a good cause, and I am sure the Trike Tour will prove very popular with our guests at the charity ball.”

TICKETS for the Lord Mayor’s Ball cost £35 and are available from the Chester Civic Team 01244 977701/977702 or email: chestercivic@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk.
