Chester's prominent Crowne  Plaza hotel has been put up for sale.

The 160-bedroom hotel, on St Martin’s Way, is one of 11 hotels operated  by QMH UK under the Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Best Western PLUS  brands.

They are being marketed from today, February 14, by specialist property adviser Christie and Co.

The sale will leave QMH with just four hotels. A year ago it had 18 in the group.

The company has yet to issue a statement on why it is putting the hotels on the market.

This portfolio for sale consists of about 2,000 bedrooms within three Crowne Plaza hotels, seven Holiday Inn hotels and one Best Western PLUS in what Christie and Co is calling 'key trading locations from Glasgow to Plymouth'.

Christie and Co said the group has benefited from an ongoing extensive multi-million pound refurbishment programme with recent investments in key assets including Crowne Plaza Chester.

The other hotels for sale are:  Crowne Plaza Glasgow, Crowne Plaza Nottingham, Holiday Inn Doncaster, Holiday Inn Harrogate, Holiday Inn Luton South, Holiday Inn Peterborough West, Holiday Inn Plymouth, Holiday Inn Solihull, Holiday Inn Stratford-upon-Avon and Best Western Plus Reading Moat House.

Jeremy Hill, of Christie + Co, said:  “A portfolio of this standing presents an unmissable opportunity to acquire a high quality, well invested  nationwide group of hotels with a profitable trading profile and a leading management team in place. It is a  particularly attractive proposition given the growing momentum in the regional hotel marketplace.”
